Davis v. Gamboa, Atlanta Hosting Its Biggest Fight To Date. 28 December – “State Farms Arena,”

Atlanta Georgia (November 26th, 2019) Gervonta “Tank” Davis pulled up to the Republic Lounge for his championship presser here in Atlanta Georgia. Mayweather Promotions Signee – Davis was greeted with a chorus of cheers from the local energy attending the event. December 28, 2019 headliner will be a part of history, as Leonard Ellerbe expressed “It is the biggest fight ever, here in Atlanta,” a super hot-spot known as black Hollywood for its booming entertainment industry on many levels – except for boxing.

All the local radio voices were on deck to awaken the city, swipe away the boxing cloud cover and caffeine those sleeping fans to the biggest boxing showcase ever to boast the city. Atlanta has indeed caught wind of this incoming boxing blaze, scheduled to scorch the State Farms arena for a lightweight championship extravaganza next month.

Here we have a pair of champions who are calendared to meet for the first time in their boxing career. Davis pedigree merits attention as he won the 2012 National Golden Gloves Championship, tripling up to three straight National Silver Gloves Championships from 2006–2008, two National Junior Olympics gold medals, two National Police Athletic League Championships, and two Ringside World Championships to his amateur accolades sealing an impressive 206-15 record. Davis hailing out of Sandtown-Winchester Baltimore MD, training out of “Upton Boxing Center” since five years of age most recently put on for his city headlining a showstopping performance as he closed out Ricardo Nunez in just two-frames. The stoppage was vintage “Tank” fashion, seeing him enact his surgical right jab, complimented with powerful combination sets. Davis was to much as he steamed rolled a gamed Nunez against the ropes with brutish punching authority, forcing a referee intervention. The fight was called off and Davis notched his 21st knockout to his boxing register.

On the co-headliner was Olympic Gold medalist former world champion Yuriorkis Gamboa, who didn’t disappoint from his limited appearances from a single fight in 2018 – to his first 2019 contest challenging hard-nose veteran Roman Martinez his last outing. Gamboa the larger fighter wasted little time emphasizing who was the bigger stronger boxer and injected power shots quickly to the body/head of Martinez dropping him early. Gamboa finished Martinez in the second round setting the tone for Davis who was the headliner at the Royal Farms arena. Davis would split the ropes for an early second round closer to end the night expeditiously. Very little to bloviate from these victories, as both boxers moved up from super featherweight to a stacked lightweight division for their showdown on the December 28th.

Vibing-out to recording artist Drake mega hit “Started from the bottom” we can say “Tank” is here! He’s ranked number one in the WBC and WBA lightweight standings but owns real estate on a 13th fight KO streak back-dated five years to 2014. Solid zen tells me the lightweight division may very well catapult Davis to a higher stratosphere as a boxing super star.

Davis will make history in many ways than one, he’s contending for the WBA (REG) title. This would addition another division to his championship credentials, as he seeks to continue elevating his fan experience across the boxing lea, to further build up his super stardom. December 28, will keep the dirty south dancing through the holidays, knowing we have a boxing gem keeping the city lit as we usher in the 2020 New Year. Hearing the news of this bout, natives were surprise as to how long its been since Atlanta hosted a professional boxing match of this magnitude. Put it this way, legend Evander Holyfield defeated Vaughn Bean in the antiquated Georgia Dome 1998, which has since been demolished. Over 20 years the Atlanta boxing region faced famine as a popular stumping ground to host big fights but December 28, serves up this southern appetite nicely for years to come.

Davis – Gamboa Fight Presser Atlanta Georgia, November 26, 2019

Davis v. Gamboa in my opinion is far from a one-sided affair. I believe the technical layers of each fighter will be waged at cubicle distance, vicious chin-framing and a strategic formula of enforcement. We have to guess with our insinuated interest as to which fighter sets the tone early, having suited southpaw to orthodox outfits and slight disparities in recorded experience. The garrulous talking points that will halogen throughout this media foray, is the lifetime of 12-years that separate both fighters in age. Will Tank youthfulness, technical torment, combined with his ferocious savagery be to much for Gamboa or will we witness a renewed battle tested, Cuban assassin, revolt Davis rule of engagement in a boxing classic.
