Unwanted news has stricken the boxing communal once more due to the training regime of boxing winning the fight before the bell sounds the first round. Abner Mares stepping up a division to challenge current WBA, Undefeated Junior Lightweight Champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis has fans pouting from the recent news of Mares withdrawal.
Very exciting match-up seeing Mares losing his rematch in a competitive Back-N-Forth with boxing foe WBA Featherweight champion Leo Santa Cruz. Deciding to retire that division, Mares was due to contend his JLW debut in a championship showdown with Davis for the WBA Championship title.
February 9th Carson California was calendared for this championship clash but sources haven’t announce officially if the entire bout will be scratched or Davis will compete with a last minute replacement. This isn’t uncommon in the sport of boxing, it’s just never a moment of expectancy for which the boxing fans are prepared to digest the disappointment. Stay tuned, official news should be forthcoming. Salute from World Combat Sports.
