Avery Sparrow Arrest, Derails Showdown Versus Undefeated Ryan Garcia.

Breaking: The flash, undefeated rising contender Ryan Garcia will have to wait to let his hand go, his opponent Avery Sparrow couldn’t switch legal stances quick enough to slip a warrant out for his arrest since early April 2019, for a domestic dispute in Philadelphia.

The allege offense is Sparrow brandished a firearm on a woman. This arrest preempted the obvious cancellation of the weigh-in/fight mere hours before the pair of fighters was set to tip the scales. There is a twist to this unfortunate fate.

Sparrow was never in receipt nor was he served any documents coinciding with issuing of any warrant due to his current living arrangement. Currently he does not own or rent property. He was transported to Men’s Central Jail, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department county jail.

Russell Peltz, Sparrow’s promoter had this to say ““I’d seen the video in April and told him to ‘watch out who he’s hanging out with,’” said Peltz, moments after the fight was called off. “I was notified Tuesday night when we were in the van on the way from the airport to the hotel in Los Angeles that there was a warrant out for his arrest.” It’s more to the story –

Peltz verbally agreed with a Philadelphia detective in arranging for Sparrow to attend his schedule bout on Saturday and Peltz retain his purse until attending his court appointment on Monday. Well contrary to the obvious outcome, communication lines twisted somehow in honoring this arrangement, someone within the Philadelphia department chain of command may have superseded the previous agreement.

Enclosing Peltz mentioned – “He knows the system is stacked for people like him,” said Peltz. “I thought I’d seen it all in my 50 years in boxing. He was brimming with confidence for this fight. He was hopping, skipping and jumping through the airport corridors on Tuesday. I’d never seen him that happy or high on life. Dealing with something like this is a first for me. Outside of Avery, no one is sicker about this than I am.”
