“They Put Hatred In My Heart, Now I Seek Revenge”- Wilder. Riveting Interview @78SportsTV
By Scottie “The Context” White
Outside the ring more than a year now, heavyweight boxing titan Deontay Wilder has taken full advantage of his time maximizing his recovery from surgery and recently setting boxing headlines a buzz by winning his arbitration for a trilogy with heavyweight nemesis Tyson Fury.
Wilder endured his first defeat last February as he battle through an 11th title defense in a night marred in scandal. One of the most anticipated boxing matches pre-covid19 proved to have its own strain of prevaricated ill-intent. Wilder would fight for his life through uncertain circumstances, alleged water contamination, glove tampering and being denied to go out on his shield as his corner threw in the towel halting the fight in the seventh-round.
As Wilder absence chimed throughout social media calling for his voice to be heard. I reframed from limb-jumping assuming the totality for this outreach of concern wasn’t in support of his wellbeing but more so an aura of entitlement from old media blended with new media fishing for new updates. Wilder is the biggest name in boxing as we know it and of course there is going to be inquiries from all sides. He’s always been the peoples champ who obliged fans with his exemplary candor, with countless interviews and shaking their eardrums with his patent “BombZquad” moniker as fans lose their wits smiling in gratification. Wilder has spoken very little in the past 14 months. Not a bad thing if you view this from a logical perspective of personal privacy and taking in account the magnitude of his arbitration process.
Wilder sat down with his longtime friend and media constituent 78sportstv – founder of “Lions Den Boxing Community” (LDBC). A prolific interview long awaited from the boxing community to hear the from the champ in his own words. It’s the first interview for Wilder since winning his arbitration in forcing team Fury to contractual honor a third championship showcase betwixt the two.
78sportstv interview exclusive with Deontay Wilder and head trainer Malik Scott. (talking points)
78SportsTV– Salute to the mighty LDBC, in the building, back in the building, my brother, the champ Deontay “Bronzebomber” Wilder. How you doing champ?
Wilder– I’m doing great man, how about yourself?
78sportstv– I’m doing wonderful man. And of course we have the brother Malik Scott
Malik– Focused and ready to get this title back an all!
78SportsTV- So this is the first interview since the arbitration case, were you confident you would win the arbitration?
Wilder– We were very confident, we had the facts, we had the proof along with it and being able to testify made it that much better as well. They always say the truth will set you free, when you have to tell a lie, one thing about that lie you going to have to keep working to keep that lie fresh to remember what was said, what was done. And if its a lie, the truth shall come out. We were contractually obligated period. I mean he signed black to white paper. You know he (Fury) gave us his word. You can’t close the chapter without going through Deontay Wilder.
78SportsTV– how did you feel thinking I got this trilogy coming up with Tyson Fury, how did you feel when he came out an announced he wasn’t going to fight you. He tried to get out of the situation and move on to fight Anthony Joshua.
Wilder- Of course I would look at it as a coward way of trying to move. Trying to avoid me for what reason, he know the reasoning, we know the reasoning but let it make sense to the fans that’s watching right. I just want to be in a sport where…. they say their the best and I say I’m the best and the best wanna fight the best. I don’t wanna rob the people, I want to give you the best fighting the best – at their very best at the peak of their time. You’ll see money come and go regardless, but money is not everything. I’m all about saying I’m the best, building my legacy and putting it against anybody. To much guys avoiding each other and all these guys with the “white privilege” out here that have them sounding like they bigger and better than everybody else – which they not! They try to push the narratives and especially to black fighters. I have so much positivity around me, so much love around me. With this whole situation, this arbitration, I been training, all we been doing training, focusing and uh getting love from the family and stuff. I didn’t really worry about to much, we had the proof, the evidence and we had a dam good lawyer. One thing about my team, my team we together, loyalty, we always on one page, one accord and that’s power.
78SportsTV– Malik how did you join the team and come on as a trainer?
Malik- Well I been on the team because Deontay has been like family to me. The fact I’m a student of the game and boxing has been my whole life since the age of 12. We always had a mutual respect for one another even outside the ring. As far as advice, what’s the best thing for him to do, what’s the best thing for me to do for my career. Even when we fought, those were probably the only two or three months we haven’t talked throughout our whole relationship. My brother took a lose, I never seen anyone or anyone I’m close to in a position like that.
78SportsTV– All those reports coming out, Wilder is depressed, heard this an that, I was like I didn’t hear none of this. I talk to champ, I never stop talking to champ. Champ has been focused, he always said he want that trilogy, he never said he didn’t want the fight. He never said he wanted to take step aside money.
Wilder- Many people said I was depressed, many had my personal number, they could have called me. People coming out with bogus stuff is crazy. I think I can speak for the whole team, this right here is retaliation. “We want it back in blood baby.” You can close your eyes and not see the truth but you can feel the truth. When you see those gloves flapping and going a 90 degree angle or keeping a mushed in form. Ya’ll made me better, but ya’ll didn’t make me better! You made me better with all the things you said with all the false allegations.
Malik Scott- It’s like certain situations validate who a certain individual is. We don’t have grass now, we got dirt now. I love where Deontay mind frame is at more than ever. I love the way he training, I love how receptive he is, I love how we can move back and forth on strategy. Our communication is very sharp, our chemistry is incredible. It’s two time heavyweight champ of the world. The way how he move, especially since that fight, and the silence that was going on that whole time. He was silence in the world but fighting hard in that court room the whole time. He really didn’t have a break away from fighting. I look at it after the lose, “the game tried to bury him alive.” I watched this man make u-turn in the middle of crowed avenues to go pick up babies, give 20-30- minute interviews, to talk to people kids. I had words with him sometimes, not words of arguments but checking me sometimes to say “no bro, let them 20 people in, bro you just did 300 people, “bro no I need them 20 more people in.” I believe everything that happen is a testament to his strength and character. You know I’m already proud of him because I know what we can do come July.
Wilder- 78 just to reflect on me and Malik getting together and everything like that. Like bro I’ve been wanting to bring you apart. when I connect with people its like we become family, even though I didn’t know this man, I knew this man. I even cooked for this man, his family came over, I cooked for his family, his kids.
Malik-78 you might not be as familiar as to how training camp go. If somebody at that time is fighting a Klitschko brother, those kind of camps are crowed camps. This particular camp, me and Deontay didn’t know each other or nothing. I was there on Monday, he got there on Tuesday. We was the only two fighters on the compound to hold camp with each other. Our journey, I always say our journey was ordained for us to be together the way we are.
78SportsTV- I seen the training videos, people thought the champ was sitting around depressed.
Wilder- “chuckles”, the next fight is definitely going to be a different fight than the first and the second fight. I wanted Malik long time ago, but when you have so many trainers on the team, it’s like the only way to bring him on – I had to get rid of somebody. Because you can’t have to many. You know, so when the opportunity came about, it was like a no-brainer. I knew exactly who I wanted to come, i knew the perfect guy for the job.
78SportsTV- brother Malik, I know ya’ll can’t go over strategy but how has camp been looking for you oppose to other camps.
Malik- I’m saying from the very first camp, everything has been surgical. Everything is being done with a purpose, we know he got the missile but the places he putting the missile now, the mentality. The mindset is very violent right now.
In closing, Special thanks to 78sportstv (LDBC) and the champion Deontay Wilder for his level of poise in light of the firestorm of tribulations dealt inside/outside the ropes and showing resilience to pursue justice in holding Fury contractually bonded to face him in a trilogy. This epic heavyweight boxing showcase is 55 days out for rules of engagement July 24, 2021 Allegiant Stadium. Who would have thought a single defeat on Wilder boxing ledger would addition the level of vitriol from so many fans on his home soil. It’s sickening, especially from a country enriched in boxing history.
Take heed “They put hatred in my heart, now I seek revenge. I wanna feel everything !” – Deontay “BronzeBomber” Wilder
From listening to the interview, Wilder is laser attentive to all of it, his team is stronger than ever and now the fight date is official , so be prepared for another part of boxing history. I predict Wilder will exact his retaliation in front of millions at Fury expense and his left/right weapons formed to close down with lethal detriment. He ain’t never played boxing, so this fight in July is a baleful encounter for barbarity. Wilder – 2x world heavyweight champion.
